19.5 Nyetimber Classic Cuvée 2005 Chardonnay 62%, Pinot noir 19%, Pinot Meunier 19% £25.99 Very full, with a huge whack of ripe fruit. Nose still a bit closed, but this ought to develop. This is Nyetimber's best to date. How much better can English sparkling wine get?
19.5 RidgeView Grosvenor Blanc de Blancs Magnum 2001 Chardonnay £63.00 Perhaps the best UK-grown sparkling Chardonnay. It is great now, but with its crisp acidity and full body, it has years of life left. Amazing.
19.0 Chapel Down Pinot Chardonnay 2006 Pinot noir, Chardonnay NA Excellent nose with fruit and yeast. The palate is full with very good length. This is a new style for Chapel Down and almost Nyetimber-like. Is this the shape of things to come for Chapel Down?
18.0 Camel Valley Pinot Noir Brut White 2007 Pinot noir £29.95 Great fruit, full with a really long finish. Good balance and not too sweet.
17.5 Chapel Down Brut NV Pinot Noir 40%, Müller-Thurgau 30%, Reichensteiner 30%. £16.99 Very fresh, full of fruit and well balanced. Has length and persistance and a real bargain.
17.5 Hush Heath Estate Balfour Brut Rosé 2006 Pinot noir 55%, Chardonnay 40%, Pinot Meunier 5% £36.99 Very elegant with soft Pinot fruit evident. Classy, with good balance. Still young and ought to improve in next 2 years.
17.5 RidgeView Fitzrovia Rosé 2007 Chardonnay 46%, Pinot noir 32%, Pinot Meunier 22% £21.95 Very full, great fruit and long on the finish. Better than the 2006 and back on top form.
17.5 RidgeView Grosvenor Blanc de Blancs 2007 Chardonnay £21.95 Although the crisp Chadonnay acidity comes through, this wine is rich and creamy with good balance. One to enjoy now, but will be better in 12 months time.
17.0 Breaky Bottom Cuvée John Inglis Hall 2006 Seyval blanc £20.05 Fresh and elegant, with satisfying acidity and long, dry finish.
17.0 Camel Valley Pinot Noir Brut Rosé 2008 Pinot noir £22.95 Really ripe fruit which for 2008 is a surprise. Round on the palate with quite high level of sweeteness.
17.0 Chapel Down English Rosé NV Pinot Noir, Reichensteiner, Müller-Thurgau £19.99 Lovely fruit on nose and palate. Quite full, but elegant and satisfying.
17.0 RidgeView Bloomsbury 2007 Chardonnay 64%, Pinot noir 23%, Pinot Meunier 14% £19.95 Very full on the palate with good acidity, but not too sweet.
16.5 Chapel Down Pinot Reserve 2004 Pinot Noir 70%, Pinot Blanc 30% £24.99 Full with high acidity, but well balanced with rounding dosage.
16.5 Gusbourne Estate Gusbourne Brut Blanc de Blanc 2006 Chardonnay £24.99 Zesty and sharp, not too sweet and a nice balance. One to drink now.
16.5 Jenkyn Place Jenkyn Place Brut 2006 Chardonnay 61%, Pinot noir 23%, Pinot Meunier 16% £25.00 Still young and will improve. Fresh with great Chardonnay fruit and not too much acidity.
